Power Cut Costs Energy Firms £10.5 Million

As we begin the new year, more articles are coming out regarding last year’s August power cut and the damaging effect’s this caused the UK.

The power was lost for just under one hour, that doesn’t seem long does it? However, this affected one million customers who were left without power, as well as causing travel chaos. Due to this RWE Generation, Orstead and UK Power Networks are the three energy firms that have agreed to pay £10.5 million to the Energy Watchdog’s Redress Fund.

The August power cut was the first major outage since 500,000 homes lost power in London in 2003. The BBC & Ofgem have also posted recent articles about this, stating how much disruption and distress was caused to consumers across the UK, we have attached these below.
